DuoCore is the three-stage purification system built into every Beam+. Stage one is UV-C light, which targets and neutralizes the DNA of biological contaminants. Stage two is filtration, which traps heavy metals, microplastics and chlorine as you drink. Stage three is Auto-Clean, which keeps the bottle sterile even when it is sitting unused. Together they do what filter bottles and sterilizing bottles each only do halfway.

Working in tandem, the system achieves up to a Log 6 reduction, or more than 99.9999%, of biological pathogens. Independent SGS testing on the assembled bottle, across seven separate reports, measured more than 99.9999% reduction of total coliforms including E. coli, more than 99.999% of MS2 coliphage virus, more than 99.6% of lead, more than 99% of chlorine, 99.8% of VOCs, and PFOA and PFOS reduced to non-detect. Microplastics were reduced by 99.2% at the start of filter life. In practice, water that is safer and tastes noticeably better than what came out of the tap.

A filter bottle improves taste and catches what is physically in your water, but its pores are far larger than bacteria and viruses. Sterilizing bottles have the opposite problem, since light does nothing about dissolved lead or PFAS. DuoCore was built to close both gaps in one lid, which is still unusual in this category.

Filtration is automatic. You sip through the straw, and water is pulled through the DuoCore filter on its own with no button to press. For sterilization you have three options:

• Double click for a standard 3-minute cycle
• Triple click for the 5-minute Ultra-Strong Blitz cycle, the one for hotel and airport taps
• Hold the button for 2 seconds to start Auto-Clean, which then runs a 3-minute cycle every six hours on its own

Once Auto-Clean is on, it is genuinely hands-off. The six-hour timer persists, so the bottle you left on your desk overnight is fresh when you pick it up. If you open the lid mid-cycle, that pulse cancels but the timer keeps running and the next cycle starts exactly six hours later. Auto-Clean continues until you turn it off by holding the button for two seconds again.

Press the same combination you used to start it. Opening the lid during any active cycle also cancels it immediately, which is a safety feature: a built-in sensor deactivates the UV-C light the moment the lid opens.

Nothing at all. No chemicals, no aftertaste, no residue and no ozone. Your water goes in as water and comes out as water, just cleaner.

Yes, and that is what it was built for. Hotel bathrooms, office coolers, gym fountains, airport refill stations and city taps are all fair game. Start with clear water. Heavily clouded or silty water should be strained first, since DuoCore is designed for drinking water rather than river water.

Press the button once and the LED ring tells you: green is above 40%, orange is 10 to 40%, and red is below 10%. While charging, the ring breathes orange, and it turns solid green when the bottle is full.

Around 60 sterilization cycles per charge. It recharges through the magnetic port on the base of the lid, so there is no port to line up and nothing to wear out.

Every 40 gallons or two months, whichever comes first. A used cartridge looks identical to a fresh one and water still flows through it, so keep to a schedule rather than waiting for a visible sign. Auto-Ship sends them on your rhythm so it never becomes something you have to remember. Cancel any time.

Activate the new filter first by running it under cold water or soaking it in a bowl for two to three minutes. Then unscrew the lid, remove the straw from the old filter base, pull the old filter from the lid housing, insert the activated filter and reattach the straw. It takes about a minute.

It holds 22 oz, or 650 ml, and measures 3 inches across by 10.5 inches tall. It is our largest bottle, with a carrying handle and a wide mouth that takes ice cubes and a bottle brush.

Double-layered 304 stainless steel with vacuum insulation holds cold for up to 24 hours, and hot for up to 12. No plastic taste, and no sweating onto your desk or bag.

No. Flip the lid back a full 180 degrees until it locks, which both stops the lid rotating while you drink and keeps the bottle sealed in transit. The bottle is rated IPX7.

Water only. Coffee, juice and sports drinks leave residue on the DuoCore filter and straw and reduce how well the system performs over time.

Hand wash only. The lid houses the DuoCore system and must never go in the dishwasher or be submerged. Wash the body with warm soapy water and a bottle brush, and wipe the lens with a soft cloth every few weeks.

Your Beam+ with the DuoCore filter already installed, the magnetic charging cable and a user guide. After that, the only ongoing cost is filter replacements roughly every two months. No subscription is required.

No. DuoCore filters are made for the Beam+ only. The Go is a lighter UV-C bottle with no filter, which is why it needs no cartridges.
